ISMAKOGIE

by Prof. Anne Seidel

ISMAKOGIE is a doctrine of movement which is meant as an aid for our everyday activities. Not only can posture and movement mistakes be corrected, independently of the place and available time, but also new energy for our everyday tasks can be created. Every time the bodily functions are brought into new harmony.

It would be desirable to become confident in one's body until it feels unconsciously whether the movement pattern is proceeding in line with the functions and its strength is still undiminished (cf. learning car driving movemets, later reacting almost unconsciously).

Three conditions must contribute in order to feel the results while learning:

The patience to repeat small exercises often until the effect is recongnizable on the whole body.

Getting to know the functions of the body in order to tread the quickest path and to recognize the necessity of which position is optimal.

The REAL wish to arouse body sensitivity or to improve or deepen it. If the serious desire is missing it is better to wait until the readiness manifests itself.

The application of the knowledge learnt should not hinder the practice of other gymnastics, sports or meditative methods. On the contrary, it is the basis upon which to build up or proceed further, or to which one can find the way back. The name proves the application of the practice:

ISMAKOGIE - Ideal possibility of the body to swing in our daily life according to a particular order of the body.
In German: Ideale Schwingung (Spannung) der Muskeln im Alltagsleben nach körpereigener Ordnung - GIE = Lehre).

The right, i.e. economic, application of the muscle apparatus supports the skeleton, allows the breath to flow, arouses the circulation, improves one's ability to concentrate - the possibility to relax, as much as the insertion of the tension change and demands therefore order, harmony.

The swinging of the body in sitting or standing can only be obtained without fixation. The experience of the body, the body feeling, can be deepened when lying. In sitting and lying the proper movement procedure or posture exercises are primarily brought into action. During lying and reclining exercises the ligaments and muscles, which are not used enough while sitting, standing or running, can be stretched, strengthened but also relaxed.

Changing of tension leads to swinging

Important during an exercise session: It is unimportant how good or bad your neighbour does the exercises. One's own mistakes should be recognized since one learns from one's mistakes and the teacher can correct them any time. Forcing effort in ISMAKOGIE impedes the experience of success, since it leads to new and other tensions. Concentration on one's own body and the method of small steps would be desirable.
